Salary: NJC Grade C: £25,989 - £26,403 FTE (This will be paid pro-rata to reflect hours and weeks worked)

Working Pattern: This is a permanent position working 22.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year  (Wednesday to Friday 8.30 - 16.30)

Pilton Community College are seeking to appoint a dedicated and highly motivated individual to join our support staff team. Our administrative team is a dynamic and supportive group, playing a vital role in the smooth daily operation of the school. 

About the role

As the first point of contact for parents, staff, and students, they handle a wide variety of day-to-day matters, from forgotten PE kits to misplaced bus passes, always responding with professionalism, kindness, and efficiency. The role is fast paced, with a consistently busy environment and frequent phone enquiries, so flexibility and a proactive mindset are essential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing a professional and welcoming reception service for visitors and callers
  • Managing incoming calls, emails and visitor sign‑in procedures
  • Supporting administrative tasks including parent communications, data input and record keeping
  • Assisting with attendance and student information systems
  • Liaising with staff, parents/carers and external organisations
  • Maintaining an organised, presentable reception area
  • Acting as a designated First Aider (training provided)
  • Upholding safeguarding, data protection and confidentiality requirements at all times

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has strong literacy and numeracy skills (minimum Level 2 or equivalent)
  • Is confident using ICT, including Microsoft 365
  • Is well organised, able to prioritise effectively and remain calm under pressure
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Can relate positively to young people, staff and visitors
  • Works proactively, flexibly and as part of a team
  • Is committed to safeguarding, equality and professional standards

Experience working in an administrative or customer‑facing role is essential. Experience in a school environment would be desirable (training will be provided if required).
